  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Mont Lake records returns in 2022 with a brand-new vinyl only various artist compilation. The release has been split into two parts with a digital bonus track only on Bandcamp to celebrate their 5th year as a label.

The second part of the two-part compilation, features tracks from Italian producer DJ Chupacabra, Mias Void the techno alias of Frankfurt producer Matthias Vogt and a remix from Berlin’s Iron Curtis to round everything out.

Kicking off the release with a dance floor groover, DJ Chupacabra starts things out with “Growler”. A club ready kick moves along solidly until a sub bass line propels the track into a frenzy of funk. Bleeping synths splash through the arrangement and the simple use of vox keeps the track moving in a forward direction, which will surely keep the interest of even the toughest electronic music enthusiast and work wonders in the late night and early morning hours of a set.

Next up the release jumps straight into techno territory with Mias Void’s “We Used to Be Detroit”. The track begins with a lush pad that might fool the listener at first until a rough kick and clap make their grand appearance in a way that plays perfectly with polarities of light and dark. As the pieces evolves the soundscapes become enveloped with a steady hi hat and glistening synth elements that keep it moving along steadily towards an emotive conclusion.

Mixing things up for the release’s closure, Iron Curtis takes us directly into the electro breakbeat realm with his interpretation of “We Used to Be Detroit”. A dark and alluring bassline paired with a slamming broken drum pattern get things going right from the start on a high note, while complimentary snare and clap percussion elevate the composition of the drums in a very danceable way. As the drums and bassline play together in unison, sporadic synths segments from the original are carefully placed to pay homage to Mais Void’s version but still creating an entirely new feel that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
